Anniyan (Stranger) in Marmadesam (Mysterious Land)

When I saw Shankar’s Anniyan today (2nd day of release), I could not help remembering the superhit TV Serial Marmadesam, telecast in Sun TV in 1997 to 1999, written by Indira Soundarajan, directed by Naaga, and produced by (K.Balachander’s)MinBimbangal

1. Both these stories deal with Multiple Personality Disorder.(MPD)
2. In both stories, the hero is affected in Child hood
3. The story is that the hero suffers from MPD that leads to creation of another personality which punishes everyone who does mistake. In Marmadesam- Vidathu Karruppu(Mysterious Land - the Black will not leave you), it was Karruppu and in Anniyan it is Anniyan. Of course, in Anniyan there are two alter egos where as in Marmadesam, it was just one alter ego
   
4. In both stories, the character has a animal as vehicle. While it was a white stallion for "Karrupu" it is Ox for Anniyan
5. What is more interesting is the fact that the character in Indra Soundarajan's novel was called as "Karrupu" meaning black where as Shankar calls his character "Stranger in Black"
6. The next similarity is the fact that the hero is a afraid of many things, including expressing his love to the heroine
7. The alter ego takes over at this point. It was Karuppu in Marmadesam and Remo in Anniyan
8. And in both stories the alter ego punishes based on the information available to the main person. (inspite of the high tech web site created by Shankar and Sujatha !!!)
9. Though you can argue that the story could be compared with the Sydney Sheldon's classic, what intrigues me the most is the KARUPPU - BLACK....... Shouldn't they have given credit to Indira Soundararajan
